Most of the time Michael still lives in Nottingham but also has a holiday home on the Spanish island of Menorca. He writes wherever he has the time available. He spends as much time as he can in Menorca with his adult children and his Grandchildren.

Early life and career |
Where he is now |
Michael Poyzer was born July 8th 1948, the youngest of two sons born to Ernest and Laura Poyzer. He attended Forest Fields Grammar School in Nottingham, leaving in 1964 to start an Engineering Apprenticeship with bicycle manufacturer Raleigh Industries. He married Susan in 1970 and they set up home together. Whilst working there, in 1971 he began a degree course with the Open University in its first year of operation. He obtained several credits in various Science and Technology subjects, before interrupting his endeavours in 1976 to start both a family and business. After having three children, Christopher, Victoria and Joseph and also establishing a successful business in bicycle distribution over the next thirty years, he approached his sixtieth year and thought about his interrupted formal education. After returning to the Open University to continue his studies, he added the extra dimension of Creative Writing to round off his education and completed his BSc. Honours Degree in 2013 after 43 years, just in time for his sixty fifth birthday. This created quite a lot of national publicity at the time.
At the age of 70, he has now recently begun work on a two year Masters course in Creative Writing with the Open University. Stop Press. Now completed. |
After continuing to run his business, he has added an extra dimension to his career in writing. He has written several novels, some still unpublished. He has also written various short stories and other ramblings which he plans to publish on the website. He would enjoy and encourage anybodies comments on any of the work.
Mike is viewed above with his four Grandsons, Will, Oliver, Ben and Sonny aged 5 to 13. They are pictured at Nottingham's Zapp Thai Restaurant on a rare outing together. Rare because Will and Oliver live in Denmark.
Stop press news is that they have been joined by his first Granddaughter, Poppy Florence. Congratulations to youngest son Joe and his wife, Emma. |
